Audi Fashion Festival Singapore 2010
Fashion shows are simply orgasmic to me. Models strutting down the runway like angelic beings with spotlight on them, genius designers who brought cloth to life, turning them into heavenly garments with intricate details, unique tailoring and a visionary point of view.
To be able to attend 2 of the shows at AFF was such an eye opening for me and re-ignite me with the passion and resource to continue writing about fashion here. Here are some blurry shots from my iPhone:

Look at that backdrop for the 1st part of the runway show
Can’t see the models well from the pictures but they are like little angels light up on the runway.
The clothes fresh from the runway show! I took pictures of it, since I can’t afford it.
Mismatch of Spring
Go ahead and feast your eyes on Paul Smith, Gucci and Miu Miu’s 2010 Spring/Summer Collection. It has a bit of everything, from colours to geometry, from suits to sportswear, from simple slick lines to intricate construction with embellishments

Valentino’s frills
You know you should really stock up the ruffles and frills in your wardrobe for Spring/Summer after you seen Valentino’s collection for S/S 2010.
Ruffles dresses in nude tones, which “floats” by as the models walk down the runway with fantastic heels that looks like is sweet and fairy-like. For once, there is no red on the Valentino runway, but it doesn’t take away the Valentino woman who embodies the word – Feminity.
I really like how the way the women are wearing the ruffles with grace, and not the ruffles wearing the women down. Kudos to the immaculate construction by the Valentino duo – Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli.

Bah bah, here comes the barn
Chanel Spring/Summer 2010 collection was in a barn setting and Karl Lagerfield created over a dozen cocktail dresses fit for ladies to become little girls again. Lily Allen was performing live for the runway show, but the 2 models accompanying her at the stands looks too thin in those flower print dresses (yes you heard me right, Chanel has dabbled in the realm of red, blue and white flowers!) And I do find Lily Allen looked abit bird-like in her outfit for the show (not in a good way).
Other than the little grumbles I have above, I actually quite like the new look Karl Lagerfield is interpreting Chanel. The black and white and the tweed suits still lives on, with some major modifications. But there were plenty of sheer material and embellishments on the cocktail dresses which added character to those otherwise boring short dresses. And what better to wear during Spring/Summer than short dresses that are feminine and lady-like?
Femme fatale
Inspired by film noir, John Galliano created the 2010 spring/summer collection with the femme fatale in mind. The women are decked in jackets and sheer material with their lingerie peeking below, making innerwear the new outerwear fashionable.
It’s an art and the silhouette a tribute to Dior’s new look of the 1947.
Ruffles & frills – the 2010 spring/summer trend
After my previous post on Stella McCartney’s frills and ruffles on the spring/summer 2010 runway, I found another collection which featured this new trend heavily – Marc Jacobs.
Marc Jacobs has cleverly revolutionized the use of ruffles on tailored suits, rompers and jumpsuits. The models are styled to look like ballerinas after a show on the way home, keeping their faces theatrical and the outfits wearable. Note the flats the models are wearing. I love them!
Start the new year with frills and colours!
Watching Style fashion videos on my iPhone is so great, because it gives me instant access into the fashion shows I have missed.
Here is 2010 Ready-To-Wear Collection from Stella McCartney. Once again Stella did a wonderful runway show with wearable clothes. With a big YES in the background of the runway, this collection promise alot of optimisim for fashion and the new year. I especially love the bold colours, frills she has used. It is not too cliched and brings out the girl in every woman.
Frills are definitely the IT factor for 2010 spring/summer, so stock up your wardrobe girls!
Audi Fashion Festival Singapore

Come May, fashion will hit the streets of Singapore with the inaugural Audi Fashion Festival Singapore. Big names like Christian Lacroix, Vivienne Westwood, Marc Jacobs, Gareth Pugh and Ashley Isham will grace the runways in the Tent@Orchard.
I am immensely interested in seeing the Ashley Isham’s show after seeing his Spring/Summer 09 collection on TV last night. I read somewhere that for AFF, he will be showcasing his latest Autumn/Winter 09/10 collection. To be able to see his collection so soon after the London’s Fashion Showcase will be such a great honour.

And not forgetting Christian Lacroix, I am his fan now after seeing his costumier exhibition, but $400 per ticket is indeed pricey in view of the current times. Yet Christian Lacroix in Singapore! Will there ever be a 2nd time?
Marc Jacobs, the designer behind Louis Vuitton’s beautiful creations will also have his Marc By Marc Jacob’s showcase at AFF.
Tickets started selling last week, and only tickets left now is for the Christian Lacroix opening show and another show, Blueprint. Sorely disappointed that I did not manage to book Vivienne Westwood show for the closing night. Any one can pull strings to get me in? Pretty please?
